SHAHNAMEH OF FERDOWSI IS ONE OF THE MAIN LITERATURE WORKS OF IRAN. IN THIS POEM SERIES, IN ADDITION TO HEROES AND EPICS, THERE ARE SOME ROMANTIC AND INSTRUCTIVE STORIES, WHOSE ONE OF THE MAIN FEATURES IS METAPHORS AND DESCRIPTIONS WHICH ARE AMONG DISTINGUISHED CHARACTERISTICS OF VISUALIZATION. IDENTIFICATION OF THESE FEATURES COULD BE EFFECTIVE IN DETERMINATION OF VISUAL, COLOR RENDERING AND SCENERY PROPERTIES OF SHAHNAMEH. THE ROMANTIC STORY OF ZAAL AND ROODABEH IS ONE OF THE MAIN STORIES IN THIS FIELD AS IT HAS A HAPPY ENDING. DIFFERENT COLOR SPECIES, THEIR BRIGHTNESS AND STRENGTH, INSPIRED BY THE NATURE, AND CHARACTER FEATURES OF THIS STORY ARE SPECIAL BUT SOME ARE GENERALIZED IN OTHER STORIES OF SHAHNAMEH. THE AIM OF THIS STUDY IS TO INVESTIGATE THE ROMANTIC SCENERY CAPACITY OF ZAAL AND ROODABEH STORY IN TERMS OF COLOR RENDERING, SCENERY SETTING AND VISUAL FEATURES OF THE TWO CHARACTERS. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT ZAAL AND ROODABEH ARE INTRODUCED BY METAPHORS AND DESCRIPTION INSPIRED FROM THE NATURE. IN A WAY THAT, THE READER COULD COMMUNICATE WITH THAT THROUGH HIS/ HER VISUAL EXPERIENCE OF NATURE. DIFFERENT COLORS ARE USED IN THIS STORY, SOME, LIKE DIFFERENT SHADES OF RED, WINE RED, POMEGRANATE FLOWER, POMEGRANATE SEEDS, CROW BLACK, YELLOW, GOLDEN, BLACK EYE AND RUSTY COLORS, ARE MENTIONED DIRECTLY; AND SOME OTHER ARE MENTIONED THROUGH METAPHOR TO NATURAL ELEMENT. IN THE SCENE WHEN TWO LOVERS JOIN TOGETHER, THERE ARE SOME SCENERY SETTINGS WHICH WOULD BE DESCRIBED. ALL OF THESE ARE THE IMAGINATION OF THE POET WHICH, BY CLOSE STUDY OF SHAHNAMEH, COULD BE APPLIED IN VISUAL ART WORKS.
